Hi Everyone,

I hope you have had a restful break. The Year 8s will be focusing on Measurement, Linear Graphs & Equations. They will be exploring how to interpret information from graphs and how to plot coordinates on graphs. I have been really impressed with the enthusiasm the boys have been demonstrating throughout this term. Well done and keep it up!

It has already been an exciting start to Term 3 with the Numeracy Week Mathematics Competition just two weeks away. Everyone will wait and see whether the Year 8 boys (last year’s winners) can defend their title. All the best boys!

Year 9 Maths

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed the semester break. In Term 3, the Year 9s will be focusing on Measurement, Trigonometry & Statistics. Making sense of data, deciding which supermarket is the cheapest in the suburb and exploring why the census is important is only a few of many learning areas we will be exploring this term.

The girls have been really joyous when it comes to using technology inside the classroom. Kahoot (an online quiz) is being used to revise for upcoming assessment. The girls are also very vehement when it comes to displaying and discussing their solutions on the whiteboard, of course, contributing to their learning. I hope this enthusiasm continues throughout the year.

The Sirius College IDC Mathematics Competition is only a few weeks away and best of luck to our girls. Bring home the medals!

Year 10 Maths

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to another term of Year 10 Mathematics. The Year 10s are very busy deciding on their future careers and thinking about their options for VCE. Nevertheless, the Year 10 boys have been showing real passion and good effort when it comes to Mathematics. They will be studying Trigonometry, Financial Mathematics & Surds & Logarithms. This will involve investigating how financial formulas used by banks, accountants, tax offices are applied in the real world to check entitlements and make the best choices between loans or investments.

The Year 10 boys were unlucky last year in the Sirius College IDC Mathematics Competition. In a few weeks they will have an opportunity to have another shot at one of the most exciting competitions at our school. I wish you luck throughout the term!

Welcome back everyone. I hope you’re all well rested and looking forward to our school’s festive season. Parents are free to look at some our wonderful Artworks hanging up, in the front corridors and in the Art room. Our Year 7 students will study printmaking, our year 8 students’ mosaics and our VCD class will build more models (this time architectural ones based on google sketchup buildings).
